Description
Class descriptions are to assist you in finding the appropriate class for your gymnast. It is by no means a definite description of where your gymnast needs to be placed when enrolling. Other factors should be addressed specific to your gymnast. If you have questions, please call the Parks and Recreation department for additional help. Gymnasts do NOT have to demonstrate mastery of ALL the skills listed for their class, but they should be able to complete many of the skills in the previous class without assistance.
BEGINNERS: This class is for gymnasts age 6 and older regardless of skill level. This class will introduce basic gymnastics skills to participants. FLOOR: tripod, scale, splits at beginning stage, forward somersault, backward somersault, 3/4 handstand, beginning cartwheel and round off
FLOOR: bridge, splits at beginning stage, forward somersault, backward somersault, 3/4 handstand, beginning cartwheel and round off
BARS: extended straight leg glide, spotted pullover on low bar, cast off low bar with return to bar, and pull up
BEAM: (all on low/medium beam) pivot turn, jumps/leaps, needle kick, dip step walk, cartwheel on straight line, jump dismount
VAULT: hurdle, hit board correctly with two feet, handstand fall to flat back
*There will be no classes the week of June 30th-July 4th*
Here are the rules and regulations for tumbling.1. No jewelry (small earrings are okay) shall be worn during a gymnastics class.2. Gymnasts should dress appropriately- No jeans or jean shorts (shirt and shorts are fine).3. No wet swim suits.Age Category
