GonnawannaWIFLEagin’ Co-Ed Wiffle Ball Who: Participants with autism ages 15 and older No previous baseball or Wiffle Ball experience is necessary. All skill levels are welcome! FACT staff and coaches will provide individualized support as needed to help each athlete participate successfully. Parents/guardians are required to remain at the program. Families may wait in the gym's bleachers or use a quieter designated waiting area while the program is taking place. What: GonnawannaWIFLEagin’ is a co-ed Wiffle Ball program where athletes will learn the fundamentals of the game while developing physical, social, and teamwork skills. Our coaches and FACT staff will use demonstration, modeling, visuals, repetition, and hands-on instruction to help athletes understand the rules and skills of the game. Participants will have opportunities to work on: ⚾ Throwing and catching ⚾ Batting and making contact with the ball ⚾ Running the bases ⚾ Fielding ⚾ Understanding game rules and positions ⚾ Following directions and game cues ⚾ Taking turns ⚾ Teamwork and sportsmanship Wiffle Ball is a variation of baseball designed for indoor or outdoor play in smaller or confined spaces. It uses a lightweight, perforated plastic ball and a lightweight plastic bat, making it an accessible way to introduce athletes to the fundamentals of baseball. Why: At FACT, our goal is for every athlete to walk out of the gym with a smile on their face! Through GonnawannaWIFLEagin’, athletes will have the opportunity to build physical endurance, coordination, attention, confidence, communication, and social interaction through an active team sport. Our goal is not just to teach athletes how to play Wiffle Ball, but to create an environment where they can try new things, develop skills, connect with teammates, and experience the excitement of being part of a team
