About This Activity
Fighting Shotgun is designed for intermediate skill levels. Fighting Shotgun will set you up with a solid foundation for future practice sessions. The course covers combat mindset, ammunition selection, sling setup, spare cartridge carrier options, loading, unload, reloading, operation of the action, and shooting fundamentals as applied to self defense. Use of cover, forward and rearward movement, ground shooting techniques, multiple target engagements. There will be numerous repetitions to practice what you are learning under the watchful eye of a Patriot Performance Shooting, llc coachmen. required equipment - Shotgun with a fighting style sling & Chamber flag. - Handgun - 400 rounds training ammunition, bird shot is fine. - 15 rounds of your self defense ammunition such as 00 or #4 buck - 10 rounds of slug - 5 dummy rounds (high visibility is preferred) - 50 handgun rds - Holster - see requirements below - a pouch to carry loose rounds such as dump pouch, sling bag, cargo pockets. - If you have tactical system for carrying spare rounds please bring. - eye protection - ear protection, electronic if recommended so you can clearly hear the instructor. - note taking material - water - clothing appropriate for the weather. - closed toe shoes. Holster Requirements: Must completely support the pistol. Must not collapse once drawn. Must fit properly to the belt. When holstered, the trigger guard must be completely covered. Must be oriented in a safe direction for drawing. “Trigger Finger” style retention devices are not permitted. Must be able to draw and holster one-handed; Support hand cannot be utilized.
