- Using a band curriculum students will learn how to perform and sight-read on their chosen instrument. - They will learn how to play a part while hearing all their pears play their parts simultaneously to perform a musical piece together. - Attention will be given to good sound production, accurate sight reading, dynamic markings, and score map following. - This class will consist mostly of the students playing their instruments with some verbal instruction and musical demonstrations by the instructor. - The goal of the class will be for the students to improve their performing skills through much playing as many songs through various genres as can be learned in the semester’s classes. Textbook and materials: Textbook: Tradition of Excellence Book 1 by Bruce Pearson and Ryan Nowlin. Each student uses the instrument specific student book according to the instrument they have chosen. $50 deducted from allotment.
