Have you ever wondered what it's like to live in the woods? Come try it out! In this five-day camp, students ages 10-13 will learn the basics of wilderness survival, including shelter building, finding water, fire making, camp cooking, and wilderness safety. Packed with hands-on practice and outdoor games, this fun camp will prepare budding adventurers for all sorts of excursions. *Students should bring: sturdy, closed-toed shoes; hat for sun protection; at least 1/2 liter of water to drink. Optional: sunscreen, bug spray, a small snack, notebook and pencil/paper to take notes Laura Handley has been a hiker, camper, and outdoor enthusiast since childhood. Driven by a deep respect for the beauty and danger of the natural world, she has traveled to many remote places and learned firsthand what it takes to get there and get home safely. Laura is also a Virginia Master Naturalist and does volunteer work in habitat restoration, invasive plant removal, and nature education for children and adults.
