The mambo is a Cuban dance, though the word comes from Haiti. The first music called "mambo" was written in the late 1930s by a Cuban composer, but the mambo started the Latin dance craze in the 1940s. Similar in style to Salsa, Rumba and Cha-Cha it will develop the basics of Cuban Rhythm. All classes are taught to American International Dance Association syllabi. Please have clean, dry shoes and bring a water bottle. Partners are preferred though not required. We cannot guarantee a partner but voluntarily rotate through the class, so no one is "out" more than a minute or two.
