America's First Artists: Symbols & Stories
Whether you are a beginner or working on more advanced skills, this student-centered class will help build essential drawing and painting skills using a variety of artist-quality mediums, including pencil, charcoal, oil and chalk pastel, watercolor, and acrylic paints.
Students will explore different approaches to art, such as working from life by arranging unique still-life setups, observing nature in the garden in the "plein air" style, and using photo references. This class encourages students to draw from their imagination and emotions, creating artwork that is personal and expressive.
This class is one week, runs Monday-Friday, and lasts 2.5 hours with a snack break. Please remember a water bottle and a snack, if desired.
Every week is different at Wayne Art Center's Summer Art Camp and class projects will change weekly to correspond with this year's camp theme -- ART 250: Visions of America.
To create a full-day camp experience, register for a different afternoon class and Lunch Bunch, our supervised lunch break in the Children's Garden.
Medical, Emergency and Release Forms: All forms are to be completed through ePACT, a secure online emergency network. Once you complete registration, you will receive an email from ePACT that contains a link to create an account; click on the ePACT link and follow the instructions to complete all medical and emergency forms, which are required to attend camp.
