Scoring Stories: Music and Sound for MediaAges 10+Prerequisites: Some previous experience on an instrument, basic computer navigation (mouse, keyboard)
In this collaborative, hands-on class, young musicians will step into the role of composer and sound designer as they create original scores and soundtracks for short films, games, animations, or other media they love. Students will choose a short piece of media (or be provided with one), then work in small teams to compose, perform, and produce all the music and sound effects that bring the visuals to life.
Along the way, they'll explore the role of music in storytelling, experiment with sound design techniques, and learn how to match emotion, pacing, and tone through sound. Whether using traditional instruments, digital tools, or found objects, students will develop their creative voice while collaborating to produce a complete, media-ready soundtrack.
*Students will have supervised access to the internet during class.
