Description
Ukulele Rockers
Ukulele Rockers is a class for students who have completed Ukulele Roots or already have some experience with the ukulele. Rockers will build on the skills from their Roots class and learn some new skills and songs.
READING:
- Understand and demonstrate ability to follow basic song form: (AB, verse, chorus, etc.)
- Identify all of the line and space note names on the Treble Clef
- Read and play notes from middle C – third space C
- Understand and play a simple chord chart
RHYTHM:
- Demonstrate multiple strumming patterns (song-based) using both up and down strokes
- Demonstrate ability to play eighth and dotted-half rhythms and rests
- Demonstrate ability to play in different time signatures: 4/4, 3/4, 6/8
CHORDS:
- Play chords: G, G7, Dm, A7, D7, B7, and Em
SCALES/MELODY:
- Explore simple improvisation
- Play multiple song melodies
- Play with C Major scale / A Natural Minor scale in open position
EAR TRAINING:
- Determine by listening if a note is above, below, or the same as another note
PLAYING/TECHNIQUE:
- Play in different tempos
- Play using multiple chords
- Play in time with steady beat, alone and with others
- Demonstrate ability to use up and down stokes with strum hand on chords
- Demonstrate smooth transitions between chords
- Play with dynamics
Students will perform in a concert with their class during Concert Week.
REFUNDS: Students must pay for all lessons in the course, regardless of attendance. Full refunds or credits are available until 24 hours before your first class of the term. If you withdraw at least 24 hours before your 3rd class, a prorated school credits will be issued on your account. If you wish to receive a refund instead of a credit, please contact Youth Music Project at 503-616-5967. If your class has met 3 times or it is less than 24 hours before your 3rd class, no school credit or refund is given.
ABSENCES: Three absences out of four consecutive classes are grounds for being withdrawn from the class without a refund for the remainder of the term. Students arriving more than 25 minutes past the start time for their class will be marked absent and that absence will be counted toward the three absences policy. Unfortunately, due to schedule constraints, Youth Music Project is unable to reschedule missed classes.
CANCELLED CLASSES: Youth Music Project reserves the right to cancel a class at any time. If your class is cancelled, you will be notified and automatically issued a refund. In the event of a cancelled class, we would love to help you find another activity.
