Program 5 Youth Leadership - Where leadership grows through exploration, collaboration, and stewardship. River’s Edge Youth Leadership is a forest-based enrichment program for children ages 8–13 who are ready to take on greater responsibility, independence, and meaningful roles within a community. Designed as the next step beyond Learning Lab, Youth Leadership supports participants as they grow into confident, capable leaders through hands-on experiences in the natural world. Through collaborative projects, guided challenges, mentorship opportunities, and stewardship work, participants develop communication skills, resilience, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility to both people and place. The forest serves as a living learning environment where leadership grows through hands-on experiences rather than abstract lessons. Youth Leadership is not about being in charge; it is about learning how to care for a community, take initiative, navigate challenges, and contribute meaningfully. This program is led by experienced guides who bring real-world challenges into forest enrichment environments, giving youth opportunities to develop leadership skills, practice stewardship, collaborate with peers, and take meaningful initiative within their community and the natural world.
