Calling all young chefs! Get ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into the delicious world of culinary arts. Designed for Grade 1 and 2, this half-day program introduces campers to the fun and creativity of the kitchen while teaching them essential skills they can use for life! Throughout the camp, campers will have the opportunity to prepare tasty, kid-friendly, healthy snacks and explore the fundamentals of cooking in a safe, hands-on environment. From mixing and chopping to measuring, stirring, and decorating, each day will be an exciting new adventure as they discover what it’s like to be a chef. Campers will get the chance to participate in the various stages of creating the food - from prep to presentation! At the end of each session, campers will gather to enjoy the snack together, discuss the process and ways to improve their recipes. Who knows, there might even be some leftovers to take home! Whether you’ve already been helping in the kitchen or if this is your first time, everyone will leave with new skills, increased confidence, and appreciation for healthy eating. Week 4 + 6 (July 14-18, July 28-Aug 1) - ‘Snack Time’ Learn to create healthy, fun, and delicious snacks that you can easily prepare at home! What they'll make includes colourful sweet & savoury dips, fruit kabobs, crudités cups, sandwich art, beautiful salads, energy bites, delicious drinks, and frozen treats. Focused on incorporating fruits and vegetables into their favourite meals, kids will learn how to make nutritious snacks that are both tasty and simple to prepare. Some activities include a "Parfait Bar" where campers create their own custom snack, a "Smoothie Challenge" to develop their signature smoothie recipes! This is a half-day program.
