"This half‑day, supervised workshop is ideal for beginners or students with no, or minimal experience. Campers will be introduced to foundational music skills, instrument basics, and group playing in an environment that reflects the WVYB’s mission of accessible, high‑quality music instruction for youth. Students will: explore brass (trumpet & trombone)and woodwind (flute & clarinet) instruments; learn music fundamentals; introductory ensemble activities; encouragement from experienced instructors; an excellent way to build excitement toward starting school band in September. All instruments will be provided. This camp is instructed by: Douglas Macaulay, WVYB Principal Conductor (has led the West Vancouver Youth Band for over 30 years, growing it into one of Canada’s longest-running and most respected community youth music programs), and Elizabeth Forrest, Assistant Director of Bands (brings her experience and enthusiasm to introduce young musicians to wind instruments in a fun, supportive setting). Founded in 1930, WVYB is a non-auditioned program offering high-quality music education and performance opportunities for students of all levels."
