This full‑day, supervised music camp is designed for students in Grade 6 and up who have at least one year of experience on wind instruments. Campers will build on existing skill, ensemble technique, and confidence, all while being immersed in a supportive, musical environment rooted in the long‑standing musical legacy of the West Vancouver Youth Band. Highlights include: refine instrument technique and wind performance skills; ensemble playing and music theory fundamentals; guided rehearsals and creative exploration; and opportunities to perform and collaborate with peers. Students will perform on July 10th. This camp is instructed by: Douglas Macaulay, WVYB Principal Conductor (has led the West Vancouver Youth Band for over 30 years, growing it into one of Canada’s longest-running and most respected community youth music programs); and Elizabeth Forrest, Assistant Director of Bands (Music graduate of the University of British Columbia and the University of Oxford brings her experience and enthusiasm to introduce young musicians to wind instruments in a fun and supportive setting). Founded in 1930, WVYB is a non-auditioned program offering high-quality music education and performance opportunities for students of all levels.
