About This Activity

The student council is a representative body of students elected by their peers. Its primary purpose is to give young students a voice and a platform to actively participate in the decision-making process within their school community. The student council provides an avenue for students to express their ideas, concerns, and suggestions, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility in shaping their school's environment. Members of the student council often organize and lead various events, fundraisers, and initiatives that aim to improve the school experience for all students. Through their involvement in the student council, elementary students learn valuable leadership skills, teamwork, and the importance of civic engagement from an early age. Overall, the elementary student council plays a vital role in promoting a positive and inclusive school culture where every student's voice is heard and respected. Beginning in 3rd grade, students may serve as class representatives. Fourth-grade students may choose to run for the office of vice president or treasurer. Fifth-grade students may choose to run for the office of president, secretary, or historian. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month. Student Council elections will take place at a later date.
