Meet the VEX 123 Robot and help scientists by coding your robot to complete challenges inspired by the Perseverance rover and the Mars 2020 Mission! During the Space Race Camp, your camper can be a computer scientist and creative thinker — all while having fun exploring stories and learning about Computer Science concepts with VEX 123. Campers will work together to solve various challenges as part of Space Race Camp, to ignite their love of learning through engaging activities that blend creativity and imagination with Computer Science learning. Campers meet “VEX” the 123 Robot through a fun and interactive story and establish a set of rules and practices for working with the robot. They complete a fun activity where campers imagine their robot as a spaceship and code it to travel around the moon in a space race. Then, campers imagine their robot as a Mars rover and complete several missions, including coding their robot to collect samples and return them to base camp for return to Earth. Finally, campers continue with the Mars mission to code their robot to use the Eye Sensor to detect objects and clear the landing area for future missions. This 'Camp' will meet every Thursday evening from September 18th through October 23rd. (There will not be a camp session on October 2nd).
