About This Activity
In Level 1, we cover basics of freshwater fishing, ethics around catch and release and the importance of protecting aquatic habitats. Get hands-on as you learn to cast, reel and operate a fishing pole on your way to becoming a knowledgeable and skilled angler. Daily lessons include opportunities to practice and target your casting at different water bodies, how to identify your catch, fish species in Flanders’ waterbodies, selecting the right bait and learning/tying common knots. Sunfish, catfish, perch, large and small mouth bass and pickerel are all local fresh water fish living in Flanders’ ponds and marshes youth may encounter!
