About This Activity
Seasoned Sailing is for returning or intermediate sailors who have mastered the basics. It starts with a refresher, then transitions to new skills like close-quarters boat handling, sail theory, and distance sailing. The emphasis is on fun and safety on the water. Seasoned Sailing combines sailing with shore-side STEM activities. Seasoned sailors begin to take a leadership role and watch out for the safety of their fellow sailors too! Sailors gain confidence and pride as their skills improve and as they move towards independence on the water. Age: 8 -12 years old This class primarily uses Sail Cube sailboats THERE IS NO CAMP ON JUNETEENTH! This course is for the returning or intermediate sailor who has mastered the basics taught in our Discover Sailing course. Seasoned sailors starts with a quick review, then transitions into intermediate skills such as close-quarters boat handling, sail theory, navigation, and distance sailing. As with all of our programs, the primary emphasis is on fun and safety on the water. Seasoned Sailing combines sailing with shore-side sailing-related S.T.E.M. activities. There is an emphasis on taking a leadership role and watching out for the safety of your fellow sailors, too! Sailors gain confidence and pride as their skills improve and as they move towards independence on the water. Seasoned Sailors are split into small groups based on age and experience level.
