In this fun T-F camp kids must be able to ride on two wheels. We will teach bike control with smooth start and stops, riding with one hand to signal, riding a straight line and be able to look behind them in fun games and challenges. We will introduce bike riding rights and laws and traffic awareness of where to look for car drivers and what to expect when drivers don't follow the laws. (ex. drivers rolling through stop signs when kids are walking or biking from the sidewalk) Kids will be treated to riding on beautiful paths along the boat marina, slow streets, Jean Sweeney Park to Alameda Cross trail protected lanes and on Alameda Point. The first day of camp will meet at the parking lot side of Jean Sweeney park on Sherman Street. Call your local bike shop to schedule a a bike and helmet fit and safety check to be done no sooner than 6 weeks before the first day of camp and no later than 3 weeks before the first day of camp. KIDS WHO ARRIVE WITH UNSAFE AND INCORRECTLY FITTING BIKES AND HELMETS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE. Kids must be vaccinated for Covid19 and will bring face masks, hand sanitizer, their own water, snacks and lunch.
