About This Activity
Camp UBU is for Deaf & Hard of Hearing campers who have completed 2nd - 9th grades (2024-2025 academic year). We serve campers from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa. This is our first summer accepting 9th grade! It is not often enough where children who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing have the opportunity to meet other peers and adults who also share similar experiences being Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing in an safe and non judgemental environment free of communication barriers. We have activities that are specifically about advocating skills, leadership, team building, and outdoor education. All of the cabins are modernized, accessible, air conditioned, comfortable, and with a lake view of beautiful Lake Poinsett! All of our staff are required to complete our background check process and intensive training prior to camp.
