FOBH is proud to offer a Special Needs Water Recreation Program designed to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where participants can explore the outdoors, build confidence, and develop new skills. Participants may choose a 2-week program, meeting two full day per week on either Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. Each session is $75 per day and runs from morning through afternoon, with pick-up at 3:00 PM. Morning Adventures The day begins with exciting on-the-water experiences tailored to individual abilities and interests. Participants may enjoy: A guided kayak ecotour One-on-one sailing instruction with a certified instructor Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) Recreational kayaking within the designated beach area These activities encourage teamwork, independence, environmental awareness, and a connection with nature. Lunch & Reflection During lunch, participants gather with counselors and peers to share their morning experiences, discuss what they learned, and explore activities they may want to try during future sessions. This time promotes social interaction, communication skills, and personal growth. Afternoon Exploration The afternoon combines creativity and adventure with activities such as: Arts and crafts projects in a calm, supportive setting Additional water-based recreation Crabbing and coastal exploration Each day is designed to balance physical activity, learning, creativity, and social engagement while fostering confidence and enjoyment in a welcoming environment. Our goal is to create meaningful recreational experiences that celebrate each participant's abilities and provide opportunities for personal achievement, friendship, and fun along the Jersey Shore.
