About This Activity
Description
The basis of Y swim lessons is water safety skills. In our adult swim lesson program, students learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills: confidence in and around the water, submerging in water, and floating. For some adults, this means learning to be comfortable in the water first. We work with all levels of adults to become comfortable in the water, and gradually help them learn the skills they need to be successful in the water. Every individual is different, and we meet each student where they are. After having mastered the fundamentals, students learn additional water safety skills and are introduced to stroke techniques and endurance. They are also introduced to treading water. Once students have mastered stroke techniques in beginner lessons, they can move into Advanced Levels with the recommendation of their instructor or a director.
All program withdraw or transfer requests must be received in writing before the 20th of the month prior to the program start date. After the 20th of the month, all credit and transfer requests are at the discretion of the program director.
