United States History for high school is an engaging, interactive class which leads the student through the exciting and fascinating story of how the most powerful nation on Earth came to be. The main events of how this nation was settled will be covered, from the very beginning of the original peoples of this land all the way to the present. Students will be led on this journey into American history from a Biblical perspective. The class will encourage students to discover God’s purpose through critical thinking and discussion. The ideas and principles of the founders of this country will be explored and applied to how we think about our country today. Projects will include a historical timeline of events and people, a portfolio and a genealogy project. Several short papers, fun projects and Wiki projects will also be included throughout the year. Students will complete tests as well as weekly review quizzes. Students will also read and discuss historical literature and biographies throughout the year. The goal of this class is to make American history come alive for the student. This will be accomplished through engaging discussion of current events and how they relate to our country’s history. Class timeline and genealogy projects will encourage the student to feel that they are a part of our nation’s history.
