Learn to act with Ben Stasny! What: In this six-week lesson package, students will learn basic acting techniques such as healthy vocal projection and annunciation when speaking, monologue break down and preparation, textual script analysis of a chosen monologue, emotional connection based loosely off techniques by Stanislavski, and audition coaching. Each lesson will be scheduled for 45 minutes. Students will select, memorize, and rehearse a monologue of their choosing (with help from Ben) to be performed at a public event with other private lesson students on the sixth lesson session.
When: Students will select a 45 minute lesson time that fits into Ben’s availability: M/W 4-7pm. T/Th noon-7pm, potential for Saturday lessons based on student availability. Lesson times should be consistent from week to week with the understanding that sometimes life has different plans. Rescheduling may occur depending on weekly availability. 6-week session begins September 9th . The 6th session performance TBD.
Where: Lessons will be located at Parlando School of Musical Arts in the Dairy Arts Center (Public performance location TBD)
Who: These lessons are open to anyone of any skill level. If you are a new performer, this is a great opportunity to learn the basics of acting and build up skills and confidence. If you are a more seasoned performer with several shows under your belt, this can be a great way to dig deeper into the acting process, engage with more rigorous texts and monologues, and challenge yourself with the guidance and support of a professional actor. The lessons and content can be adapted to serve the needs of the individual student.
