About This Activity

Description

The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. Candidates must be 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of this course.

PLEASE NOTE: Participants must be able to swim 300 yards (freestyle or breast stroke), tread water for 2 minutes without the use of their hands, and retrieve a 10lb brick from 11.5 feet of water to participate in class.

Class is FREE for Carson City residents (those intending to work at the Carson Aquatic Facility). Fee for non-residents is $171.
