Take a leisurely stroll through the McDowell Prairie for a night of star gazing. We will be walking and talking about the stars, constellations and other cosmic wonders in the wide-open skies of the prairie during this 2.5 mile hike. No walk-ins accepted. Pre-registration required (for adult and child alike).
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation follows all CDC guidelines and Governor’s orders. Participants are expected to wear a mask indoors at all times and outdoors if social distancing guidelines cannot be met. Participants may be less than 6’ apart during an outdoor program. At that time, we will ask everyone to wear a mask. If you cannot, you will be asked to stand more than 6’ away.
This is NOT a drop-off program. Parent participation required.
Meeting place will be at the Four Horse Rd entrance of the McDowell Prairie. An email will be send out prior to the event with more information. Red flashlights will be provided. Be advised that this event will be cancelled if inclement weather arises.
This hike qualifies for our 100 mile hike club. Come prepared to hike approximately 2.5 miles on uneven terrain. Please wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Please bring your own water bottle.
