About This Activity

Description

This registration is for a package of 6 one-hour private lessons with Zen Hsu for Ableton and Music Producing Essentials. If after taking 6 lessons you would like to add on more, that will be possible. Lessons can be scheduled at a mutually agreed upon time with the instructor.

Beginners will learn how to navigate Ableton and learn the basics beatmaking, going over rhythm, working with drum sounds, understanding basic drum patterns, learning how to add melodic and harmonic elements to your music, looking at basic effects and processing, structuring and arranging your beat, going over basic mixing and how to finish your beat.

Experienced students will cover more advanced drum patterns, syncopations, and rhythmic techniques, learning basic music theory to add more complex harmonies and melodies, learn approaches to sampling, and learn basic synthesis to create and manipulate your own sounds.

The instructor is open to all genres, and has strengths in lofi beat making and epic orchestral music.

Beginners are expected to have their own laptops with at least Ableton Intro, a midi keyboard such as the Arturia Minilab3, and their own headphones.

More experienced students are expected to have their own laptops, with at least Ableton Standard, a midi keyboard, studio headphones for listening back to their mix accurately, and have their own samples, plugins, and Vst's they can work off of relevant to the genre they are working with (e.g., Orchestral Vsts for epic orchestral producing).
