About This Activity

Description

Tuesdays at 5:45 PM | 45 minutes

June 9 – July 21 (7 lessons total)

Ages 7–15 | Prerequisite required

Lessons will be on Tuesdays 5:45 pm - 6:30pm, starting June 9th in the Piano Lab FA at NEIU. This group class is designed for students who have completed the Primer Level of Piano Adventures and are currently working in Level 1 or higher. Students should feel comfortable navigating the keyboard, understand the music alphabet, play with both hands, and be familiar with basic articulation (legato, staccato), dynamic markings, ties, and slurs. Students with equivalent experience from other programs are also very welcome to join!

Through this 7-week session, students will continue developing their technique, musical understanding, and confidence at the piano. They will focus on:

  • Strengthening note reading and hand coordination
  • Expanding rhythmic skills and accuracy
  • Developing phrasing and musical expression
  • Reinforcing articulation and dynamic contrast
  • Learning more complex pieces and patterns
  • Building independence in practice and performance

Classes include a balance of individual playing, group activities, music games, and piano duets/ensembles. Students will have opportunities to collaborate, listen and grow as musicians in a supportive and motivating environment.

This class is ideal for students ready to move beyond beginner fundamentals and continue building a strong, expressive, and confident piano technique.
