About This Activity

Description

Tuesdays at 3:30 pm for 45 minutes

June 9 - July 21 (7 lessons total)

Ages 7-15 Prerequisite required

Lessons will be on Tuesdays 3:30 pm - 4:15 pm, starting June 9th in the Piano Lab FA 148 at NEIU. This engaging group class is a continuation of Primer A and is designed for students who already have a basic foundation in piano. Students should be familiar with the music alphabet, quarter, half, and whole notes, and be able to play simple songs using both hands. Students who have gained this knowledge through lessons at other schools or programs are very welcome to join!

Throughout this 7-week session, students will build on their skills and gain greater confidence at the piano. They will learn:

  • Improved note reading in both treble and bass clef
  • Stronger rhythm skills and steady counting
  • Hand coordination and more fluent two-hand playing
  • New musical symbols and articulation
  • Expanded repertoire with slightly more complex pieces
  • Basic dynamic and expressive playing

Classes include a combination of individual instruction, group activities, music games, and piano duets to reinforce learning in a fun and motivating way. Students will continue developing ensemble skills and musical independence while enjoying making music together.

This class is a great next step for students ready to grow beyond the basics and continue their piano journey in a supportive group setting.
