Calling all Kids & their four-legged furry best friend! Have you DREAMED of taking your dog with you to Camp? Well, here's your chance! Tell your adult to sign you and Fido up for this week-long training camp where Kids & Dogs steal the show!
Theresa Richmond of Mahogany Ridge Dog Training and Misty Denny of Misty Downs Animal Wellness & Training will spend the week with your two children (two and four-legged) working on basics and having lots of fun.
Campers will work on training each day outside to include polite leash walking (walking with other dogs) learning about canine body language and what your dog is telling you, tricks, fun canine related crafts, learning about nutrition and making dog treats, and so much more! Your campers will end the week with a dog show, demonstrating the skills they have learned this week.

Additional Details:Kids: Ages 7-14yrsDogs: Ages 4months (16weeks) & Older - Must email copy of rabies vaccine after registering.
Dogs must be crate trained. Must bring a crate with you to camp. Dog will be crated during lunch and during presenters / craft activities.
Dog crate, and other supplies that will be used each day at camp can be left on-site in the pavilion.

What to bring (DOWNLOAD SUPPLY LIST - BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE):
For the kid:
  • one pair of sturdy closed toe shoes (wear every day - no sandals or flip flops)
  • rain gear - rain jacket, hat, and waterproof footwear
  • sweater or light jacket
  • visor / hat
  • sunscreen
  • bug spray
  • fanny pack or treat pouch for the dog training
  • camera
  • portable camp type chair

For the Dog:
  • Current Rabies Certificate (you will also email this to Parks@culpepercounty.gov
  • Crate - this must be big enough that your dog can lay on it's side with it's legs stretched out. All dogs will be crated at meals and during the day at rest times.
  • Old sheet to put under the dog's crate
  • Food & food bowl for the dogs that are used to being fed during camp time
    • instructions for feeding
    • Please practice feeding & watering your dog inside the crate several times BEFORE camp, if this is not something you regularly do.
  • Treats for the week -
    • Lots of Soft treats that can be broken into small pieces will be used for training.
    • some larger hard treats are fine for when going into the crate
  • Favorite Toy
  • Flat snap or buckle collar with identification
  • 6-foot flat leash (no extendable / flexi-leashes)
  • Training collar if you use one
  • Towel for drying a wet dog
  • blanket or bed for crate
  • brush or comb for grooming.

Download the "Authorization for Medical Treatment" form from the bottom of this page and return to Parks@CulpeperCounty.gov no later than Friday, May 31. Your child will not be allowed to participate without this form.
EMAIL a copy of your dogs rabies certificate to Parks@CulpeperCounty.gov (include name of child so we can match it up). Due no later than Friday May 31, 2024.



When you register - Additional Questions you will need to answer.
1 - Name, Breed, age, weight of dog2 - Is dog fixed (spayed/neutered)3 - has the child being registered had any instruction on how to train a dog or participated in dog training classes before?4 - has the dog been to any training before?5 - does the child have any allergies - specifically food / dye6 - does the dog have any allergies - specifically food.
Payment plan is available. Three(3) equal payments of $90; $90 due at registration to hold your space. 2nd payment due by April 12, Final Payment due by May 10th.
