SWIM LESSONS - INFORMATION
Listed below is information and policies that will be in effect during the swimming lessons.
- Each swim lesson will have an instructor in the water, along with a life guard on deck observing the pool.
Maximum participants:
Infant / Toddler: 10 (max of 1 parent / adult per child in the water)
Preschool: 6
Level I - III: 8
Adaptive: 3 (max of 1 parent / buddy per participant in the water)
- Children not toilet-trained must wear swim diapers while in the pool.
- Only participants registered in a Parks & Recreation swim lesson may be in the pool and only during the specifically schedule time for that lesson. The pool & splash pad is not available for participant's family use.
- Parents & siblings are to watch the lessons from the designated seating area at the picnic shelters. Hovering by the edge of the pool will not be permitted. Hovering by the pool not only causes a distraction to your child and the other children but also to the instructor and poses a safety hazard. If siblings are spectators, it is the parent's (supervising adult) responsibility to be sure they are not running around on the pool deck and are not a distraction to the swim lesson.
- Arm floaties (water wings) are not allowed during lessons. Instructors will use kick boards and noodles and occasionally life jackets during instruction.
- Students may need to attend several sessions of the same level before they are ready to proceed to the next level. Each student will receive a progress report at the end of the session from the instructor indicating whether the student is ready to advance or should practice in the same level again before moving forward.
- If a student enrolls in a lesson that is too advanced for his/her skills, CCPRD staff will make every effort to accommodate the student by placing him/her in the appropriate level. However, if the appropriate level is not available during the same dates, the registration fee will be refunded so the student may register for the appropriate level offered during a later session. The student will not be allowed to participate in a level that is too advanced for his/her skills.
- If it is raining, or if there is a water clarity issue or pool chemical imbalance, classes may have to be cancelled and rescheduled.
