The Super A session is the culmination of the Junior Lifeguard Program and is designed for experienced Junior Lifeguards who may be interested in working as a lifeguard in the future. The Super A session aims to prepare Junior Lifeguards for future employment with a lifeguard agency by offering introductory experiences to specialized training, as well as preparation for the application and interview process. Participants will complete a one-week training with lifeguards and instructors, providing them the opportunity to experience areas of lifeguarding not typically offered to Junior Lifeguards. Topics covered may include CPR certification, Cliff Rescue, Inflatable Rescue Boat Operations, and Interview Strategies. Participants will also complete regular physical conditioning. Running and general calisthenics should be expected. All participants must pass a self-administered swim test. Parents/guardians are responsible for verifying that their child can complete the following: • Must be able to swim 5 yards underwater without coming up for air. • Must be able to tread water for 5 minutes. • Must be able to swim 100 yards in less than: o 2 minutes and 30 seconds for 9 – 11-year-olds o 2 minutes and 20 seconds for 12 – 13-year-olds o 2 minutes and 10 seconds for 14 – 15-year-olds
