What will my child learn? This course is an introduction to sailing for students between 7-12 years of age. Participants will learn how to rig and sail small sailboats as well as learn about important lake and boat safety. We will get you out on the water and have fun sailing!! Students will have short instructional sessions on land to learn rigging and terminology, but most of the time will be spent on the water either individually or in pairs. Boats are rated for up to 200lbs. with an idea combined student weight around 160lbs. for this class. This session will be five Fridays 9-11:30a, no class on July 4th. What level of swimming does my child need to have? Every child should be able to tread water for at least 10 minutes with a life jacket and swim in a lake comfortably. What do we need to bring? Required for safety and enjoyment: Students must bring their own lunch and snacks, as well as a USCG approved lifejacket, swimsuit, reusable water bottle, change of clothes, water shoes (no flip flops), sun protection, and towel, a hat, sunglasses, appropriate sail clothing, sweater (wool) or sweat pants/shirts (land use only) - NO jeans Dates: June 13-July 20th (no class July 4th) Times: Fridays, 9-11:30a Instructor: Sherri Trepp Cost: $200* *Scholarships are available
