If you are looking for fun, rewarding and active activity for your older children this summer, then we recommend signing them up for Junior Lifeguarding course. This is a great way to teach your children, discipline, teamwork, and the value of helping others. These courses will prepare students for a full Lifeguarding course when they reach the age of 15. It will also help strengthen their swimming skills and endurance. Junior lifeguarding is a course designed for children ages 11 to 14, to learn the basics of being a future lifeguard. The course will teach the fundamentals of being a lifeguard, water safety, rescues, introduction to CPR, AED, and first aid. It is a great way for a young, strong swimmer to transition into more advanced aquatics and know how to help themselves, their friends, and their families. Certificate of completion for participants who successfully complete the course. The certificate does not indicate that the person is trained to be a lifeguard but has successfully completed the course. Participants must be able to complete the following skills PRIOR to registering: • Swim the front crawl for 25 yards continuously while breathing to the side. • Swim the breaststroke for 25 yards continuously while using a pull, breathe, kick & glide. • Step into the water from the side and totally submerge. • Maintain position for one minute by treading water or floating. • Rotate one full turn and orient to the exit. • Level off and swim on the front or back 25 yards. • Exit without using a ladder or steps.
