But learning to write effectively is challenging and takes practice. In the Writing Through the Genres course, students will learn how to develop a powerful essay as they development their informational writing skills. This session will include, how to research using reliable sources, using nonfiction readings to paraphrase material, and the format for informational (essay) writing. We will also focus on the technical parts of writing such as sentence form and grammar. This course changes session to session and year to year. Participants will: 1. Engage in learning activities that give them positive their confidence with writing; 2. Develop strong grammatical skills 3. Utilize technology to self-publish their works 4. Become equipped with the tools to organize his or her ideas 5. Edit his/her own work.
