About This Activity

In this introduction to swimming, learn basic water safety and skills. Skills include safe entry and exit, breath control, submerging underwater, floating, gliding, and introduction to swimming on the front and back.

Prerequisites;

1. Students must be able to function well in a group setting without parents.

2. If there is a fear of water, contact coordinator. (Child may need private lesson prior to a group lesson)


Arrival and Supervision: All participants must check in on the pool deck for their first class. No one is allowed in the pool until the instructor is present. A parent or guardian must stay in the pool area during class for any participant under 16yrs - no drop-offs are allowed.Missed Class/Refunds: We do not offer individual make-up lessons or refunds for missed classes. If your child is sick or injured, a pro-rated refund may be available with a doctor's note. The last day to request a refund or withdrawal is the week prior to the program starting. No refunds or credits will be issued after that date.What to Bring: Appropriate swimwear (no cotton, bikinis not recommended) Towel, goggles, and a swim cap (optional but recommended) Completed Participant Information Form (please bring or email this before the first class). Outside the pool area, shirts, shoes, and shorts/pants are required per Roger Carter Community Center policy.Program Status Line: Call the Front Desk at (410)-313-2764, at least 1 hour prior to the start of class, to check if class is canceled due to inclement weather (like thunder or lightning).
