About This Activity
Our Opti Class is designed for beginning younger sailors, as well as for more experienced younger sailors who are too small for bigger boats. Beginners are taught the basics of sailing and sailboat maneuvering, as well as essential sailing terminology. More experienced sailors are taught capsize recovery, how to tack and jibe in a variety of wind conditions, and how to sail upwind. The only prerequisite for the Opti Class is that participants be able to swim at least 25 yards, tread water for a minute, and put on a life jacket in the water. All students are invited to march with us in Frankfort's Fourth of July parade.
