About This Activity
This class requires prior participation and an instructor recommendation. Please review our How to Choose a Class document here https://tinyurl.com/3suvs7k9 Intermediate Opti class is designed for sailors ages 8 - 12 who are returning to camp. Dinghy sailing proficiency is required for enrollment as the class will not teach basic skills. Please contact us if you have questions about if this class is right for your sailor. Intermediate Opti class is designed for sailors who have demonstrated skills in a Youth class and are ready to learn more. Kids under 115 lbs should take this class. Sailors will: Build proficiency in boat handling and basic racing skills, sail independently in an Opti, work toward an invitation to the Narrows Race Team Please note that participation requires a recommendation from a TYC or GHYC instructor Participants should be comfortable in and around the water. Please note all sailors at this level complete a capsize (tip over) recovery test the first day of camp. This is for safety purposes, and will be coached and supported by staff. Please note the class location carefully as two separate sites are used for Summer Sail Camp programs.
