Please review our How to Choose a Class document https://tinyurl.com/3suvs7k9 Youth class is the best place for sailors ages 8-12 and under 115 lbs. Sailors get the opportunity to build skills on their own in boats designed for kids. Participants should be comfortable in and around the water. Please note all sailors at this level complete a capsize (tip over) recovery test the first day of camp. This is for safety purposes, and will be coached and supported by staff. The class will work to build proficiency in basic sailing skills including tacking, jibing, sailing upwind and downwind and then use those skills to participate in games and activities on the water. After the completion of this course, sailors may be invited to an Intermediate Opti or Intermediate Teen class. Please note the class location carefully as two separate sites are used for Summer Sail Camp programs. Boats used at each site are: O'pen Skiff (West Shore Marina), Cube (West Shore Marina & Wollochet Bay) or Opti (Wollochet Bay)
