This test prep workshop for incoming 8th grade students will work on test-taking strategies and review the five sections on the High School Placement Test (HSPT). On day one, students will take a practice assessment modeled after the HSPT to identify specific areas that the student needs to develop. During the remainder of the week-long workshop, students will review all of the sections of the HSPT test - Verbal Skills, Math, Reading, Language, and Quantitative Skills. On the final day of camp, students will take the High School Placement Test, which is an important first step of the application process. Some of the skills that will be emphasized during the course are time management, problem solving strategies, and content learning. The High School Placement Test (HSPT) can be a daunting challenge to middle school students and a stressful part of the application process to an independent school. Let us take away some of the intimidation by preparing your child to do his or her best work on this important exam.
