Join us on a group hike in varying locations around the valley. Hiking takes place every other Saturday, with the start time dependent on the length of the hike, and the month/temperature. ALL ABILITY LEVELS WELCOME. Family members are encouraged to join the hikes.
Program is offered in partnership with Palms to Pines Parasports.

What to Bring/Wear:
- Dress for the weather

Saturday, May 1st - EARL HENDERSON TRAILAddress: Bogert Trail & Barona Road, Palm SpringsPark in the cul-de-sac
Enjoy a hike along the hillside above Araby Wash. Explore the wonders of the area's geology. We will wander into the wash to see some spring flowers and learn the importance of this critical habitat area for the endangered Casey's June Beetle. An approximate distance of 1.5miles, and elevation gain of 100 feet. BRING at least 1 liter (32oz) of water, wear close toes shoes, a hat, and sunscreen
Saturday, May 15th 9-11amHike the 'Upper Carrizo Creek" area. We will walk on an old graded road used by people who began settling the area during the early/mid 20th century and will have wonderful views of the Coachella Valley. We will be higher on the mountain, around 3,000 feet and it will be a bit cooler than in the valley, plan accordingly.
Directions: From the intersection of Highway 111 and Highway 74 & Monterey Ave, drive SOUTH (up the mountain) for 10.6 miles. Look for the sign "Royal Carrizo" and make a RIGHT turn onto Bighorn Drive. Ada will be at the gate to let you in. From here we will drive on a graded dirt road, about 1.5-2 miles.

Saturday MAY 29th 8:30-11am
We will take a walk/hike in Palm Desert Park and take part in rock painting and nature treasure hunts. Bring a snack to share.
Adaptive/Therapeutic programs are designed specifically for individuals with special needs and disabilities. Participant's family members are encouraged to attend programs to provide positive reinforcement and support when needed.
An additional information form must be completed, in addition to the standard waiver, prior to the class start date. The paperwork can be downloaded from the DRD website.
