Description
*Get hired as a guard and take this class for $100 off*Lifeguard candidates will learn valuable skills that can literally save a life. Some skills taught include injury prevention, patron surveillance, water rescues, victim assessment, first aid, CPR and AED. This class is for those who are new to lifeguarding or who have let their certification lapse beyond the expiration date. This class will be blended learning. Participants should plan time for computer-based learning that needs to be completed BEFORE the start date of class as well as the in-person dates listed below. A course manual and a CPR mask will be provided.
Course Prerequisites • 15 years of age by the completion of class. • Complete the following sequence. • Jump into water from the side, totally submerge, recover to the surface and swim a continuous 150 yards keeping your face in the water and demonstrating good breath control using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed. • After swimming 150 yards, maintain position at the surface of the water without support for 2 minutes by treading water using only your legs. Hands must be placed in the armpits, and your head must remain above the surface of the water. • After maintaining position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes, swim 50 more yards. • Retrieve a 10-pound brick and swim to the starting location while holding the brick with both hands and using only the legs for propulsion in 1 minutes, 40 seconds.
Minimum of 6 participants to run the course.
