“Live Fairytale News” is a whimsical and comedic non-musical play that brings beloved fairytale characters into the modern world of live news broadcasting. The show is set in an enchanted newsroom, where mythical creatures, royalty, and magical beings gather to report on breaking stories from the world of fairytales. Summer Stage theater camps give 4th – 6th graders the chance to rehearse and perform in a fully-staged musical or play, as well as participate in a variety of focused skill-building workshops and games. These shows are designed so that every participant has a part and a moment to shine. The two-week structure allows students more time to dive into acting and performance skills and rehearse a longer, more detailed play than they would in a one-week camp. Two weeks is still a short time to put on a play so this camp is best for students who are open to memorization work at home.
