Description
This an introduction course to basic aquatic lifesaving and first aid for minors seeking to learn more about becoming a Lifeguard. The program provides guidance, challenges, and activities to participants between the ages of 10 to 15 who are interested in furthering their experience in lifeguarding. Interested participants are not required to have any background in basic lifesaving or first aid, however, participants are encouraged to be comfortable in the water and have basic swim skills.
Requirements: Participants MUST be at least 10 years old to enroll in class and successfully complete all aspects of the prerequisite testing. Daily attendance is mandatory. If the participant fails the prerequisites test, they will not be allowed to complete the course. A refund will not be issued.
Prerequisite Testing (held on the first day of class):
- swim 25 yards/meters without stopping
- tread water for thirty seconds with hands
- retrieve weighted object off the bottom (minimum 10 lbs./ 4.5 kg)
NOTE: No certification is earned from this course in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, or First-Aid skills.
