Explore the park and beyond on two wheels as campers build confidence, independence, and outdoor skills! Bike Explorers blends riding adventures with hands-on science that explains what makes bikes (and bikers) work. Campers practice safe riding habits, improve shifting and braking, and learn basic maintenance and beginner-friendly repairs. They’ll investigate biking physics through quick experiments—like testing how helmets reduce impact and building gyroscopes to see balance in action. Daily rides include stops along the Los Gatos Creek Trail to observe habitats, look for wildlife signs, and connect engineering to the natural world. Campers will also head outside for guided nature observations to strengthen real-world field skills. Logistics: Campers must bring a properly fitted helmet and a two-wheel bike with gears in good working condition, and be comfortable riding hills; YSI cannot provide overnight bike storage. *Pleaase note that camp will NOT be in session on Friday, June 19th, due to the holiday weekend.
