"Cast a line, explore the creek, and discover what fish can teach us about healthy waterways! Campers investigate how watersheds work and how water quality affects the animals that live beneath the surface. Campers explore fish adaptations through hands-on labs and games, then connect those ideas to real habitats in the field. They’ll learn fishing safety and etiquette, practice responsible catch-and-release techniques, and fish each day with guidance from instructors. Campers will also participate in an age-appropriate fish dissection or specimen investigation to examine gills, fins, and other features that help fish survive in water. By the end of the week, learners will understand how fish are adapted to aquatic life and how habitat health supports wildlife, while strengthening observation, teamwork, and field science skills. Logistics: YSI provides fishing poles and bait; campers should bring sun protection like a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen."
