Description
In partnership with local families, the MACRD has designed an innovative approach to swim lessons to meet the needs of homeschool students. During this six-week program, participants will learn and develop swimming and safety skills in and around water.Program Assessment Day: On the first day of the session, swim instructors will assess each participant's skill level. Based on these assessments, swimmers will be divided into groups according to their age and abilities.Lesson breakdown:- First 30 minutes: swimmers will work with an instructor in a group setting to develop swimming skills and an understanding of water safety.- Second 30 minutes: swimmers will have playtime in the water to practice and reinforce the skills they have learned in a fun, relaxed environment.Breakdown of groups and learning outcomes:- Yellow group will focus on basic skills: safe entry into and exit from the water, blowing bubbles out of the mouth and nose, front and back floats, glides and streamline positions, and proper kicking techniques.- Green group will focus on advanced skills: quick refresher on basic water safety and breath control, proper stroke techniques for freestyle and backstroke, diving off the deck and maintaining streamline position, proper use of swim equipment, and circle swimming with other swimmers. This program is designed to cater to the individual needs of each swimmer, during a group lesson, ensuring they develop essential water safety and swimming skills in a supportive and engaging environment.Please bring a swimsuit, hair tie, towel, and water bottle (no glass please) to lessons.

Drop-in activities:• 100% refund, transfer or account credit prior to the start of the activity• No refund, transfer or credit after activity has started
All cash, check or credit card refunds will be assessed a 6% ActiveNet processing fee. Refunds credited to patron accounts will not be charged a fee.
