About This Activity
Three, two, one, GO! MSA’s Opti Race Team is for sailors (ages 9-15) with a few seasons of sailing experience ready to train for local and regional regattas. This class will broaden their sailing expertise and prepare them for the lifelong sport of sailboat racing. This race team will practice Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1 PM to 4 PM and Tuesday and Thursday from 10 AM to 4 PM. When you register, you'll receive a confirmation email listing this class as Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM. Active.com does not allow us to set different times for different days, so all days are set to 10 AM to 4 PM in the system. These ARE NOT the official hours. The Opti and C420 Race Teams practice Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1 PM to 4 PM and Tuesday and Thursday from 10 AM to 4 PM. This class focuses on mastering the sport of sailing. When complete, racers will be well-rounded, independent, confident, and capable of sailing in all coastal weather conditions. With hard work, team spirit, and expert advice from our phenomenal coaching staff, the team will wow spectators and win trophies whenever they compete! Sailors who join the Opti Race Team will, depending on their race readiness, parental support, and coach guidance, participate in local and travel regattas in the Massachusetts Bay area and beyond. Those who previously sailed for the Opti Green Fleet Team can join this team. Racers will advance to the C420 Team after they turn 15 or grow too tall to sail an Opti competitively. Sailors with no previous racing experience over age 13 or too tall for an Opti are encouraged to register for the C420 Team instead of this program.
