About This Activity
Ahoy! The Sea Urchins class introduces the youngest first-time sailors (age 7) to the sport. The class will familiarize newcomers with being on and around the water in a comfortable and fun environment. Sea Urchins learn the basics of boat handling, parts of the boat, rowing, steering with a tiller, trimming a sail, and boat safety. The class focuses on both on- and off-water instruction and many games designed to build fundamental sailing skills. Students will sail alongside MSA instructors on our 18-foot Ideals to quickly master the basics, become comfortable on the water, and have a great time! This class is best for 7-year-olds unfamiliar with sailing. After Sea Urchins complete at least one session and reach age 8, sailors will fully grasp the fundamentals, feel comfortable and confident in a boat, and be ready for the Beginner Opti Class!
