About This Activity
The Beginner ILCA class is designed for older/taller sailors (ages 13-18) who are comfortable on the water and ready to challenge their sailing skills alone in a Laser. We recommend completing one or more Learn to Sail sessions before participating in this class. There will be both on- and off-water instruction focused on developing basic sailing skills and learning to maneuver larger dinghies. Students will learn about the new boats, rigging, handling, and sail trim. This class is designed for sailors seeking to become proficient at dinghy sailing and will prepare them for racing or becoming recreational-oriented sailing masters! Most sailors remain in Beginner ILCA for an entire summer or more, but after completing one session, we encourage them to join Adventure Sailing: Dinghy concurrently. There, they’ll be able to practice the skills they’ve learned while having a blast exploring Manchester Harbor and nearby bays and islands!
