At the Y, swimming is a life skill. Our swim lessons prepare kids of all ages to stay safe and have fun in the water, building strong swimmers and confident kids. For many children with diverse abilities, swimming can be a very therapeutic pastime. For children with autism, water can be calming on sensory overloads, and in children with physical disabilities the water provides a weightless environment that is often very freeing. Swim lessons for diverse populations unlock the benefits and enjoyment of water for those children. In this aquatic program, swimmers will develop personal water safety and basic swimming skills. As the swimmer progresses, strokes are introduced and techniques begin to be refined using a developmentally appropriate approach. Instructors are experienced in handling students who need extra care or attention during their swimming lessons. We make sure lessons are taught at a pace appropriate for each student. No matter the circumstance, our classes help build our student's confidence in the water, while providing a safe and nurturing environment where anyone can learn to swim and be safe around water!

Refund Policy:
Due to high demand for swim lessons and administrative time for processing and enrollment, full refunds are not offered after the session begins. After this time, members may request a partial refund until the end of the 1st week of the session. There will be no refunds given after the 1st week of session. Please attach a doctor's note if relevant. Refunds will only be accepted through submission of email to Aquatics@ymcaLA.orgDue to all programs being impacted there will be no make up lessons for any missed classes.
